Health Insurance

By Glenn Miller
I am an independent agent representing Blue Cross, Assurant, Lifewise, ODS,
Pacific-Source, Health-net, OMIP, John Alden, and HPA. I can literally do
your shopping for you. I am not beholden to any one company. Each company
has certain niches they fill in the market, and their own underwriting
criteria, and the better I understand your needs, the better the options I
can offer you. I never promise that what you start on today is where you
will be three years from now. But I will promise to offer an annual review
because your needs will change and there will be different plans available,
and you have every right to look at them. It’s all about making you happy
with the service I provide. If you’re not happy I’m not likely to get a
referral to your cousin, neighbor, co-worker, etc. And that’s as it should
be. Whether you are self-employed, are trying to avoid high group payments
for your dependents, need a small group established, need help with “big”
pre-existing health issues, or want to retire but need to cover the gap
until you reach Medicare, I can help.
You can buy health insurance on-line, direct in some cases or through an
agent. By federal law the price will be the same. I am compensated by the
insurance companies so there are no other fees. Obviously, I prefer the
agent route. There a number of things I bring to the table, and the biggest
is I will be your advocate if there are problems. Some companies have blind
spots in their underwriting which can result in a decline. You may need
somebody to guide you through that situation of pre-existing conditions. I
have a fiduciary responsibility to represent the interests of the carrier as
I present their products, but beyond that I am 100% on my clients’ side. I
have the benefit of 9 other agents in this office and we constantly share
about different cases and what worked with which company, or what didn’t and
why. That expands my working knowledge of matching client needs with the
proper product, and that is to your advantage.
Many people I talk to are over-insured. They’re buying benefits they don’t
use. I try to make a closer match within the parameters we define in our
discovery conversations. Nobody is ever under obligation. I will inform
you to the point that you feel comfortable in making a final decision on
your coverage. And if we are comparing, you will get an honest appraisal of
your current coverage. You wouldn’t be the first person I told to stay put.
In this day and age, I’m pretty easy to contact. I know words are cheap.
But give me a chance to service your needs and I won’t disappoint you.
Before I can “prescribe” a health plan for you, I need to “diagnose” the
need first. We need to talk so I can get a better feel for your service
preferences, medical history, current Rx’s, and budget requirements. Then I
can look amongst the plans and companies I rep and find some options that
appear to fit you best. That becomes the place to continue our
conversation. Please advise your thoughts….
